Farming is a risky job. A tractor can overturn, a hand can get caught in a thresher, a snake can bite or lightning can strike. Such an accident can break a farmer family in one moment. After such an accident, the farmer's income stops and the treatment cost adds a heavy load. Mukhyamantri Krishak Sathi Yojana gives financial support in this situation. The scheme covers farmers, farm workers and licensed hamals and palledars working in the mandi.

Support Amount as per Accident Type

The support amount depends on the type of accident. The state government pays the amount through the mandi committee after checking the claim. The amount is sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiary or the family through DBT.

• Death in an accident gives ₹2,00,000 to the family.
• Bone injury equal to loss of two limbs and coma from a head injury give ₹2,00,000.
• Loss of two limbs, eyes or feet gives ₹50,000, and loss of one limb gives ₹25,000.
• Loss of four fingers gives ₹20,000, three fingers ₹15,000, two fingers ₹10,000 and one finger ₹5,000.

Which Accidents are Covered?

The scheme covers accidents that happen during farm work or inside the mandi area. These include accidents while driving a tractor, harvester or other farm machine, a hand or leg getting caught in a thresher or cut machine, a snake or poisonous animal bite while working on the farm, lightning strike, and accidents while selling crops or working in the mandi. A serious spinal injury and a head injury that leads to coma are also covered.

Support is not given for accidents that happen under the influence of alcohol or drugs, suicide or a suicide attempt, natural death from illness, war or riot, accidents in a foreign country, or accidents during power theft.

Who Can Apply?

Any person who is a permanent resident of Rajasthan and is between 14 and 75 years of age at the time of the accident can apply. The person must be a farmer, a farm worker or a licensed mandi hamal or palledar. The accident must happen in the farm area or inside the mandi area. There is no fixed income limit for this scheme. For mandi hamals and palledars, a mandi license is required. The application must be filed within 6 months of the accident.

Documents Required

For a death claim, the family needs the death certificate, postmortem report if applicable, a copy of the FIR or police report in case of an accident, Aadhaar of the person and the applicant, Jan Aadhaar card, bank passbook linked to Aadhaar, heir certificate, residence certificate and land record for farmers or mandi license for hamals.

For an injury or disability claim, the family needs a certificate from a government or private medical officer, hospital treatment papers, Aadhaar and Jan Aadhaar cards, bank passbook linked to Aadhaar, residence certificate and land record or mandi license.

To get the benefit, the application must be filed within 6 months of the accident. The process is given below.

STEP 1 - After the accident, a family member should go to the nearest agriculture produce mandi committee office in the area.

STEP 2 - Get the Mukhyamantri Krishak Sathi Sahayata Yojana application form free from the mandi office. The form can also be downloaded from the official portal at rajkisan.rajasthan.gov.in.

STEP 3 - Fill the form with the full details of the injured person, the date, place and type of the accident.

STEP 4 - Attach all the required documents according to the type of the accident, whether it is death or injury.

STEP 5 - Submit the filled form and documents to the mandi secretary and keep a receipt. After the mandi committee checks the claim, the support amount is approved and sent to the bank account through DBT.
