Maharashtra government has launched new certificate courses scheme for youth who want to build careers in the gems and jewellery industry. Registrations and online applications can be done through official website of Maharashtra State Skills University (MSSU).
These courses are being started to prepare a trained workforce for jewellery design, gemology, manufacturing, and quality control. The state government aims to connect local talent with jobs in both Indian and international markets. With jewellery exports growing every year, this scheme is expected to create better job opportunities and also boost small and medium businesses.
What is Maharashtra Gems & Jewellery Course Scheme 2025
The Gems & Jewellery Course Scheme will be designed with support from industry experts so that students learn modern methods used by global jewellery brands. Apart from classroom learning, practical workshops will also be given. A new Gems & Jewellery Park is also being set up at Mahape, Navi Mumbai to provide world-class infrastructure to manufacturers and exporters.
To make business setup easier, a dedicated Ease of Doing Business War Room has been created at Mantralaya. With faster land and license clearances, more private investments are expected in the sector. This move is a big step to modernize the traditional jewellery trade and give young entrepreneurs new chances.

STEP 1: Go to the official Maharashtra State Skills University website at mssu.ac.in
STEP 2: On the homepage, click on “Short Term Skilling Certifications” under the Skill School menu and then click on “Gems & Jewellery” course on the next page.
STEP 3: Click on the apply online option and fill in your personal details like name, mobile number, email ID, and Aadhaar number to create an account.
STEP 4: Upload scanned copies of required documents such as ID proof, educational certificates, and recent passport-size photo.
STEP 5: Choose your course preference like jewellery design, gemology, or quality control.
STEP 6: Pay the registration fee (if applicable) through online payment modes provided on the portal.
STEP 7: Finally, submit the form and download the acknowledgement slip for future reference.
