Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) is preparing to start its biggest housing scheme in recent years. The CHB Sector 54 Housing Scheme for approximately 1000 flats will be spread over 32 acres of reclaimed government land. This land was earlier occupied by an illegal furniture market and Adarsh Colony, which were demolished in June and July 2025. The reclaimed land is valued at more than ₹880 crore.
CHB Sector 54 housing scheme will be bigger than the Sector 53 housing scheme, which has 492 flats and is expected to launch in second week of September.
CHB Sector 54 Housing Scheme – Launch Date
This new housing scheme by CHB in sector 54 is expected to be launched by the end of 2025 or early 2026. No launch date has been fixed for this new scheme. The board first will launch the sector 53 scheme in the second or third week of September and then will work on the launch of scheme in sector 54.
Flat Details
CHB has already drawn the layout plan for this new sector 54 scheme and will soon send it to the urban planning department for approval. Once the clearance comes, the scheme will be officially launched. This new scheme in 54 sector will provide homes for different income groups.
The scheme will have ground+5 and stilt+5 buildings with a total of 1,000 units. Flats will be divided into 4BHK, 3BHK, 2BHK, 1BHK and EWS (economically weaker section) categories. Board has planned to offer about 250 units in each category to make sure all types of families can benefit from the scheme.

Upcoming Plans of Chandigarh Housing Board
Along with Sector 54, CHB is also reviving its old project at the IT Park. Earlier rejected by the environment ministry due to high-rise construction, the new plan will now have low-rise (ground+3) buildings to avoid disturbing migratory bird routes near Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary.
