Mukhyamantri Amrutum Yojana is a health insurance scheme of the Gujarat government that gives families below the poverty line (BPL) access to quality medical and surgical care. The scheme provides cashless treatment cover of up to ₹5,00,000 per family per year at empanelled hospitals, so poor households do not lose their savings during a medical emergency. Registration for eligible families remains open through the official portal ma.gujarat.gov.in.
Mukhyamantri Amrutum Yojana was launched by the Gujarat government on 4 September 2012. It was started mainly to help families in the lowest income group, especially those listed as Below Poverty Line (BPL). Many households fall into debt when a serious illness strikes because hospital bills wipe out their savings. This scheme removes that worry by linking BPL families to a large network of empanelled hospitals for surgeries, critical care and specialised treatment.
Over the years the scheme has been widened. Families that fall slightly above the BPL line can get cover under the Mukhyamantri Amrutum Vatsalya (MAV) Yojana, which runs alongside the main scheme. The state health department keeps updating the income limits and rules through government resolutions (GRs), and the latest details are available on the official website.
