Government has re-notified and extended Mukhya Mantri Shahri Ajeevika Guarantee Yojana (MMSAGY) for Financial Year 2026-27. Online registration for the new year is open on the official portal mmsagyud.hp.gov.in. Eligible households can register with their local municipal body and get a job card for civic work such as street sweeping, waste collection, park maintenance and other approved municipal tasks.

Mukhya Mantri Shahri Ajeevika Guarantee Yojana - Introduction

Mukhya Mantri Shahri Ajeevika Guarantee Yojana was launched to improve livelihood security in cities and towns of Himachal Pradesh. It covers all Urban Local Bodies and Cantonment Boards of the state. The main aim is to give urban families a guaranteed wage employment of up to 120 days in a financial year, along with a chance to learn new skills.

The scheme has four main parts. First is guaranteed employment of up to 120 days per household. Second is skill training under DAY-NULM so workers can move to better jobs. Third is bank linkage for people who want to start their own enterprise. Fourth is direct wage payment into the bank accounts of workers after attendance is verified by municipal authorities.

For example, a worker living in Shimla city can register with the local municipal body and get work such as street sweeping or waste management. After 30 days of wage employment, the person becomes eligible for skill training under DAY-NULM. After training, there is a chance to get a loan for a small business through the Self Employment Programme.

Main aims of the scheme are given below:

  • Providing up to 120 days of guaranteed wage employment to urban households so their basic needs can be met.
  • Improving the skills of workers through DAY-NULM training, which helps them find better jobs or start small enterprises.
  • Strengthening urban infrastructure and civic services by using local workers for sanitation and other municipal tasks.
