Lakshadweep Scholarship Scheme is a government scholarship program that gives financial support to students from the Lakshadweep union territory who want to study in schools, colleges and research courses across India. The scheme has no family income limit and covers tuition fee, hostel fee and travel costs for eligible island students.
For the 2026-27 academic year, the online application portal is expected to open around the second week of July or the first week of August 2026. Students who are natives of the islands can apply through the official Lakshadweep administration and National Scholarship Portal process during this window.
Lakshadweep Scholarship Scheme - Introduction
Lakshadweep Scholarship Scheme is run by the Education Department of the Lakshadweep administration to help island students continue their studies without money problems. The scheme supports students from primary school up to Ph.D. and research level, whether they study in the islands or on the mainland.
Because the islands have limited higher education facilities, the scheme also helps students who go to the mainland for courses like engineering, medicine and MBA. For such courses, the administration covers additional costs so that students are not stopped by money issues.
