Nagaland identifies 63,300 senior citizens receiving old age pension

Nagaland Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen said on October 1 that over 63,300 senior citizens currently receive support under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) and other state pension programs.

The government also backs 12 senior citizen homes under Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana. The Senior Citizens Helpline 14567 offers details on pensions, government schemes and care services for elders.

Imchen asked the public to cooperate with the government's effort to find fake and ineligible beneficiaries under IGNOAPS. This step helps make sure the scheme reaches deserving senior citizens who are not covered yet.
