Nagaland launches General Household Scheme for 1.21 lakh uncovered households

Nagaland government started General Household (GHH) Scheme on October 14, 2026. It gives five kg of subsidized rice every month to homes not covered by National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013.

First phase found 1,21,238 beneficiaries. They get rice from checked Fair Price Shops in towns and villages.

Wonchio Odyuo, Secretary for Food and Civil Supplies, said 26,982 GHH ration cards made so far. These cover 1,19,401 units. Total foodgrain allotment is 5,97,455 kg.

Scheme is for homes without active Antyodaya Anna Yojana, Priority Household or other ration cards. Enrollment uses Aadhaar. Eldest woman, 18 or older, becomes head. If no woman, eldest man becomes head.

KT Sukhalu, Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies, said eligible Indian citizens can join. This includes local and non-local people meeting rules. Annual income limit is ₹2.5 lakh, but direction needs checking. Non-local residents must give self-declaration certificate.
