Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has launched a new welfare scheme named Chief Minister’s Kakkum Karangal (Mudhalvarin Kakkum Karangal) for ex-servicemen and their families. This scheme is started to help retired defence personnel set up their own businesses by providing them loan. This scheme is providing financial help in the form of loans and subsidies to ex-servicemen and their families. Under this scheme, families of martyrs are also included.
Under the Kakkum Karangal Scheme, ex-servicemen can get bank loans up to ₹1 crore to start small or medium-scale businesses. The state will give a 30% capital subsidy and a 3% interest subsidy, reducing the burden of repayment. In the first phase, about 348 ex-servicemen and families will benefit from the scheme, with a total budget of ₹50.50 crore allocated. Benefits of ₹24.43 crore to 155 ex-servicemen have already been provided on the launch day.

Families of soldiers who lost their lives during service can also apply by visiting their respective District Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare Office.
