Kerala Announces Additional Relief for Wayanad Landslide Victims

Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan announced an additional relief of ₹2 lakh for each family affected by the July 2024 landslides in Mundakkai and Chooralmala. This decision came from a recent cabinet meeting. It helps survivors who lost their homes and loved ones in the disaster that claimed over 200 lives. The state government is setting aside about ₹5 crore for this work.

Other cabinet decisions

The cabinet also decided to start with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Urban 2.0 scheme. Work will follow specific branding rules. Also, the government is helping the family of R Rajesh. He was a volunteer who died while saving a flood victim in Kannur on August 1. The Chief Minister promised to finish building the family home and provide compensation and job support.
