Kerala Approves Second Phase of PMAY-Urban Housing Scheme

Homeless residents in Kerala can now apply for support under the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). The state cabinet has approved this phase, which will help about 30,000 eligible families build their homes.

Kerala signed an agreement with the Central government to get ₹450 crore in funding. Each eligible person gets a total of ₹4 lakh in support. This amount includes ₹1.5 lakh from the Central government and ₹1 lakh from the state government. Local municipalities and the beneficiary cover the rest of the cost. Families must pay 25 percent of the total building cost themselves.

The first phase of this scheme ends on September 30, 2026. The government is working to keep the housing support running without any break for families who need it.
