Keralam Proposes Extending Mid-Day Meals to Plus Two Students

Kerala is planning to expand PM POSHAN scheme coverage to students in Class 9 to 12. Education Minister N Samsudheen confirmed the state shared its agreement with the Centre at a recent Delhi meeting. This scheme currently helps students from Class 1 to 8 in government and aided schools.

The state is also giving Onam special rice to about 23.5 lakh students. Each student gets 4 kg of rice for free. Minister Anoop Jacob said 905 metric tonnes of rice are being sent through Supplyco. Also, Onam kits for Antyodaya Anna Yojana families are almost ready. 90 percent of these kits are already given out at ration shops.
