Centre approves 25,000 houses for Tamil Nadu under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban

Central government approved construction of 25,000 houses in Tamil Nadu under second phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban. These houses will be built across 722 urban areas in the state.

Scheme details

Each house covers about 300 sq ft. Central government gives a subsidy of ₹2.50 lakh per house, and Tamil Nadu government covers remaining construction costs. Second phase of this scheme prefers new construction technologies over traditional methods.

Second phase of national housing programme started in 2024. It targets construction of one crore houses across 5,206 cities with an estimated cost of ₹2.50 lakh crore. Eligible people can check PMAY Urban 2.0 Application Status or fill PMAY Online Form to apply.
