Tamil Nadu targets 1 lakh rooftop solar installations by March 2027

Tamil Nadu launched a state Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme for 1 lakh homes by March 2027. This scheme works with the central PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

Subsidy structure

Consumers who install rooftop solar systems up to 3 kW get a total subsidy of ₹1 lakh. This covers the central subsidy of ₹78,000 plus an extra state subsidy. The government approved ₹50 crore for this, with these state payments:

• Up to 1 kW: ₹5,000
• Up to 2 kW: ₹10,000
• 3 kW and above: ₹22,000
