Tamil Nadu Announces Annapoorani Super Six LPG Scheme

Tamil Nadu government announced Annapoorani Super Six Scheme to reimburse costs for domestic LPG cylinders. The scheme was announced on 24 August 2026 and will start on Pongal Day in January 2027.

Eligible families get subsidies paid to their bank accounts via DBT payment. The government set an annual budget of ₹4,000 crore for this scheme. Eligible people include families with an annual income under ₹2.5 lakh, middle farmers, marginal farmers, and families of persons with disabilities.

Expanding travel support

Also, the state is expanding Vettri Payana Thittam to offer free travel for women and transgender persons on deluxe, express, and mofussil buses from 2 October 2026. This scheme shows the state's focus on welfare, much like the Vetri Laptop Scheme 2026 supporting college students in Tamil Nadu.
