Tamil Nadu Gold Ring Scheme Contract Awarded
Tamil Nadu government awarded the contract for Thaaimaman Thanga Mothiram scheme to Joyalukkas and Kalyan Jewellers. Any child born in a state-run hospital on or after June 22, 2026, will get a 1g, 22-carat gold ring.
Scheme details
Joyalukkas got the larger 70% share of the order for being the lowest bidder. Kalyan Jewellers will supply the remaining 30%. The government plans to give out 1.28 lakh rings during the first four months, from June through September. This main scheme launches on September 15, 2026, to encourage more deliveries in government hospitals.
