The mass marriage ceremony new dates have been announced amid COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Now the mass marriage ceremony will take place on the following dates:-

  • 15 January 2021
  • 20 January 2021
  • 20 February 2021
  • 23 February 2021

All the COVID-19 protocols are to be followed in the Mass Marriage Ceremony. Now only the parents of bride and groom would be allowed. Initially, the government had announced that the mass marriages will be conducted on April 26 and May 24 this year at 100 state-owned temples across the state.

The government had planned to conduct the mass marriage of at least 250 couples – this was before the pandemic broke out. Recently, only 23 couples got married under the scheme. This is because the government could not conduct the  marriages as some couples who had registered got married in a private ceremony.

Karnataka state government has also informed that the department has shortlisted some temples where the mass marriages will be held. CM B.S. Yediyurappa also confirmed that the government will help communities like Muslim and Christians to organize mass marriage as per their respective rituals.
