Karnataka government fixes new muhurtham under Saptapadi Vivah Yojana 2024 or Mass marriage scheme 2024. Now the mass marriages will be performed twice every month to avoid crowds. The govt. has fixed new muhurat on 15 & 20 January 2021 an 20 & 23 February 2021 in Sapthapadi government scheme for marriage in Karnataka. Earlier, it was planned to conduct mass wedding twice in a single year. But in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, the government has decided to hold it twice every month, starting from January 2021.
Karnataka Saptapadi Vivah Yojana 2024
Karnataka government had previously launched Sapthapadi Vivah Yojana on 10 January 2020. Under this Mass Marriage Scheme, the state govt. is providing Rs. 55,000 to newly wed couples. For this assistance, the candidates will have to make Karnataka Saptapadi Vivah Yojana 2024 registration at the temples. So, check the complete details of this Mass Wedding Scheme launched by CM B.S. Chief Minister of Karnataka had earlier released the logo and pamphlets of the ‘Saptapadi’ mass wedding ceremony. The state govt. has announced dates for mass marriage which will be held at Grade A temples coming under Religious Endowment Department.
All those couples who are going to be married in the next few days can avail benefits of Sapthapadi Vivah Yojana. The plan is to conduct about 1,000 marriages in 90-100 temples.
Assistance Amount in Sapthapadi Vivah Yojna
In this section, we will describe the amount of assistance which a couple would receive on their wedding under Government Scheme for Mass Marriage in Karnataka state:-
- Bridegroom – Shirt, Dhoti, Rs 5,000 in cash
- Bride – Saree, Rs 1,000 in cash and 8 gm of gold for the “Mangalya (Mangalsutra)”.
- Total Assistance Amount (Rs. 55000) – The total assistance amount for both bride and groom would stand at around Rs. 55,000 under Karnataka Saptapadi Vivah Yojana 2024.
A sum of Rs. 55000 will be given to the temples to buy things required for marriage ceremony.
Eligibility Criteria for Karnataka Saptapadi Vivah Yojana
All the applicants must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to avail assistance amount under Karnataka Saptapadi Vivah Yojana 2024:-
- Applicants must be a permanent resident of Karnataka state.
- Only those mass marriages which are scheduled to take place at shortlisted temples are eligible.
- Both the parents of the couple should attend the ceremony if duo wants to avail assistance.
- In case the applicants wants to marry without their parents permission, then those couples are NOT eligible.
- Also, those wanting a love marriage are NOT eligible and will not be able to reap the benefits of the scheme.
Karnataka Saptapadi Vivah Yojana Registration
All those couples who wants to tie the knot are expected to register themselves 30 days before the scheduled date of marriage in the temple. Afterwards, a list of all the eligible couples will be prepared. Then all the applicants will have to perform marriage in the Mass Marriage Ceremony. At the mass wedding event, the state govt. will provide this assistance under Saptapadi Vivah Yojana 2024.
Check Mass Marriage New Dates
The mass marriage ceremony new dates have been announced amid COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Now the mass marriage ceremony will take place on the following dates:-
- 15 January 2021
- 20 January 2021
- 20 February 2021
- 23 February 2021
All the COVID-19 protocols are to be followed in the Mass Marriage Ceremony. Now only the parents of bride and groom would be allowed. Initially, the government had announced that the mass marriages will be conducted on April 26 and May 24 this year at 100 state-owned temples across the state.
But due to the pandemic it was postponed to June and July, only to be put off again to November/December. The government had planned to conduct the mass marriage of at least 250 couples – this was before the pandemic broke out. Recently, only 23 couples got married under the scheme. This is because the government could not conduct the marriages as some couples who had registered got married in a private ceremony.
Karnataka state government has also informed that the department has shortlisted some temples where the mass marriages will be held. CM B.S. Yediyurappa also confirmed that the government will help communities like Muslim and Christians to organize mass marriage as per their respective rituals.
