Ayushman Bharat gives free treatment up to ₹5 lakh to families in Koderma

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is giving free, cashless treatment to poor families in Koderma district of Jharkhand. Patients use the scheme at government hospitals and empanelled private hospitals in the district.

An Ayushman card gives eligible families free treatment worth up to ₹5 lakh per family every year. The card works at empanelled government and private hospitals across India.

A young girl from Koderma who was diagnosed with appendicitis said the doctor told her family that the Ayushman card would cover her treatment free. She got the card made and is now getting treatment without paying anything.

Rahima Parveen had severe stomach pain and was diagnosed with stones. The treatment cost was estimated at ₹30,000 to ₹40,000. She got the card made and is now getting complete treatment free. She called it a big help for poor families.

Koderma has several government hospitals and dozens of empanelled private hospitals where eligible people can get treatment under the scheme.
