Jharkhand Cabinet Approves Major Welfare and Infrastructure Projects

Jharkhand Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, approved a ₹1,239 crore welfare package. This plan includes upgrades for medical colleges in Jamshedpur and Dhanbad to increase MBBS and postgraduate seats. Another part of the plan gives free sanitary napkins to girls in Classes 6 to 12 at government schools. This specific effort has a budget of ₹124.38 crore for the 2026-27 financial year.

Expanding education and infrastructure

Education is a top priority. The government is expanding the Chief Minister's Schools of Excellence programme to 100 more schools. Other approved steps include ₹50 crore for new residential schools for girls and ₹90 crore to install 9,006 CCTV cameras across 606 police stations. The government is also starting the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee Mission for Employment and Livelihood (VB-G RAM JI) scheme. Rules for the Guruji Student Credit Card Scheme were also updated to help more students.
