National Naari Shakti Mahila Sangathan demands pension hike to Rs 2,500 for widows and deserted women
National Naari Shakti Mahila Sangathan has asked the state government to raise the monthly pension for widows, deserted, and destitute women from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500. This demand came up in a meeting held in Ranchi on September 13, 2026.
Reason for the demand
The organisation says the current pension amount is not enough to cover the rising costs of basic items, treatment costs, and electricity. They want to bring Mukhyamantri Rajya Nirashrit Mahila Samman Pension Yojana in line with Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana, which gives Rs 2,500 every month to eligible women aged 18 to 50 years.
