What is Shramshree Scheme?
Shramshree, also known as “শ্রমশ্রী” in Bengali, is a new scheme by the West Bengal government. It was launched by WB Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to offer support and rehabilitation to Bengali migrant workers. Many people from West Bengal travel to other states for work, and this scheme is launched for those who decide to come back to West Bengal.
The main aim of the Shramshree Scheme is to provide financial assistance to these returning workers. The scheme is offering a monthly financial assistance of Rs 5000. This amount will help workers manage their expenses and restart their lives in West Bengal.

Apply Online for Shramshree Scheme
Below is the step by step process to apply online for West Bengal Shramshree Scheme. But before that, migrant worker should registered under the West Bengal Migrant Workers’ Welfare
Scheme, 2023.
STEP 1: Visit the official Shramshree Scheme website at https://karmasathips.wb.gov.in of West Bengal.
STEP 2: To apply for Shramshree, you must download the new Shramshree App (For Android Only), install it and open the app.
STEP 3: Now register on the app using your mobile number and OTP, If you are already a registered worker, then login to the app and click on “Shramshree Scheme” link.
STEP 4: Online application form for the Shramshree scheme will open, fill all the required details and attach all documents.
Details Required in Application Form
- Personal Details: Fill in your emergency contact number along with basic information such as gender, date of birth, religion, and social category. You also need to provide ration card details (type and number) as well as your voter ID number.
- Residential Address: Enter your complete address including district, subdivision, block, police station, pincode, and house address.
- Employment Information: Mention your type of work, the date when you started working as a migrant, and your daily wage.
- Workplace Address: If you are employed outside West Bengal but within India, select the state and police station of your workplace. For those working abroad, mention the country name, work address, and passport number.
- Employer Information: Self-employed workers are not required to provide employer details. Others must mention their agent’s or company’s name, contact number, and address.
- Banking Details: Provide your bank name, branch name, IFSC code, and active account number for direct benefit transfer.
- Nominee Information: Share the nominee’s name, relationship with you, Aadhaar number, and mobile number.
- Family Members: Enter the names, age, gender, and Aadhaar details of all family members.
- Document Submission: Upload required documents including your passport-size photo, Aadhaar card, bank passbook, voter ID, and registration certificate. Files should be in JPG or PDF format, with each file under 500 KB.
STEP 5: Before submitting the application form, carefully review all the information and then submit.
STEP 6: After submission of application form, you will receive an application ID or reference number.
After the online application, the Registering Authority will verify the claim and forward the claim to the Claim Sanctioning Authority. Claim Sanctioning Authority will then approve the claim and sanction, and forward such claim to the Board for disbursement the claim. The Board will then finally disburse the claim to the account of the beneficiaries.

Migrant workers can also apply for Shramshree by visiting their nearest Duare Sarkar camp along with all the required documents.

When you apply for the Shramshree Scheme online, you may require following documents:
- Aadhaar/EPIC/registered deed of property in their or their parents’ name;
- Proof of employment outside West Bengal
- Bank Account Details: Bank passbook front page copy with account number and IFSC code.
- Proof of Migrant Worker Status: Previous employment records, employer letters from other states, or even a self-declaration.
- Passport-sized Photograph: A recent clear photograph.
- Mobile Number: Aadhar and bank account linked mobile number for communication and OTP verification.
