Tripura Hits 15 MW Rooftop Solar Milestone

Tripura reached a big step under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, with a total rooftop solar capacity of 15.3 MW. By July 27, 2026, 4,460 households installed solar systems. The state government paid over ₹32.52 crore in central subsidies to 3,853 people, helping residents save on energy costs.

Scheme Progress and Benefits

Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd runs this scheme, which is growing fast. Records show 17,330 total applications, with 7,846 submitted for processing. Between April and June 2026, 1,679 people brought their electricity bills to zero. These families will also receive ₹5.79 lakh total for the extra power they sent to the grid.
