Tripura Achieves 15 MW Rooftop Solar Milestone

Tripura reached a renewable energy goal. As of July 27, 2026, the state hit a total rooftop solar capacity of 15.3 MW under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This includes 4,460 households that now produce their own clean power.

It is good that 3,853 consumers already received subsidies worth 32.52 crore rupees. The scheme helps shift how people use energy. During the April to June 2026 quarter, 1,679 households cut their electricity bills to zero. Also, these households will earn 5.79 lakh rupees for sending extra power back to the grid.

Solar growth in Tripura

With 17,330 registrations, the state government works to make the installation process easy. Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited leads this effort to make rooftop solar a regular part of the local energy mix. It helps the state move toward a greener future.
