Health Ministry sets next-phase priorities for PM-JAY and ABDM
Health Ministry and state officials reviewed Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) at a two-day meeting in Kolkata on November 5 and 6, 2026, and set priorities for their next phase.
Discussions covered wider scheme coverage, claims processing and fraud checks, along with greater use of digital health systems. NHA CEO Sunil Kumar Barnwal said West Bengal had generated over four crore Ayushman Cards. West Bengal health principal secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam said 4.2 crore people had enrolled and 2.2 lakh had received treatment since AB PM-JAY began in the state on 16 August 2026.
