Andhra Pradesh to modernize 105 rural ponds with Rs 50 crore budget

Andhra Pradesh is improving 105 rural ponds in the state at a cost of Rs 50 crore with support from Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. This work helps store more water, raise groundwater levels, and add public spaces in villages.

Project details

Improvements include stronger pond bunds, new solar lighting, walking tracks, entrance gates, and seating. Some locations now have children's parks and open-air gyms. Work is finished on 26 ponds, while construction continues in Anantapur, Palnadu, Sri Sathya Sai, Chittoor, Kurnool, Nellore, Kakinada, and Guntur. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan ordered officials to finish all projects by September 2026.
