Odisha SAMPURNA Yojana 2026 - Rs. 1000 Scheme for Pregnant Women

Odisha state government SAMPURNA Yojana 2026 provides financial help to pregnant women. Under Shishu Abond Matru Mrutyuhara Purna Nirakaran Abhiyan, the state government gives Rs. 1000 as transport cost to pregnant women who live in inaccessible areas and reach the hospital for delivery.

The scheme was launched in 2015 by Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to bring down the death rate of newborn children (Infant Mortality Rate) and mothers (Maternal Mortality Rate) during pregnancy. The scheme is still running and the state cabinet has extended it for another five years from 2023-24 to 2027-28.

Pregnant women from inaccessible regions who reach the hospital for delivery by arranging their own vehicles receive Rs. 1000 as transport cost. The amount is transferred directly into the bank account of the beneficiary through DBT.

Below are the main features of Odisha SAMPURNA scheme:-

• The pregnant woman receives financial help of Rs. 1000 from the state government.
• The scheme applies to women living in inaccessible regions where government ambulances (102/108) and other four-wheel vehicles cannot reach.
• The main aim is to reduce Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) during pregnancy.
• The scheme covers 7853 villages across 30 districts of Odisha, with special focus on 15 districts with high IMR/MMR.
• Rs. 1000 is transferred directly into the bank account of the beneficiary through DBT.

The state government has allocated Rs. 1015.67 crore for the scheme for the five years from 2023-24 to 2027-28. The scheme also provides kits to mothers and newborns, drop back facility after institutional delivery, and support for sick infants after treatment in Primary Health Centres (PHCs).

The state government understands that many problems happen when pregnant women are carried on shoulders or walk to reach the hospital for delivery. This happens because government ambulances and other four-wheel vehicles cannot reach the spot on time. So the government provides Rs. 1000 to each beneficiary through DBT to arrange transport.

• Reimbursement of transport cost of Rs. 1000 is given to pregnant women for inclusive healthcare services.
• The state government provides kits to mothers and newborns every year under SAMPURNA Yojana 2026.
• A specified amount per day is given to mothers of children admitted to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs).
• Drop back facility is provided to pregnant women after institutional delivery and to sick infants after treatment in PHCs.

Bike ambulances are being made operational for transporting patients where regular ambulances cannot reach.
