Central govt. has launched National Initiative for School Head’s and Teacher’s Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) Scheme. HRD Ministry has started this world’s largest teacher training program. This integrated programme aims at building capacities of around 42 lakh participants. NISHTHA Teachers Training Program is a national mission to improve learning outcomes at the elementary level.
NISHTHA includes all teachers and heads of school at elementary level in all government schools. Even all faculty members of State Councils of Educational Research and Training (SCERT’s) and District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) are covered. Block Resource Coordinators and Cluster Resource Coordinators in all States and UTs would also be covered.
NISHTHA integrated training program will motivate and equip teachers to encourage and foster critical thinking in students. Students would then be able to handle diverse situations and teachers can act as first level counsellors.
NISHTHA Teachers Training Programme 2019
National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement is largest teachers training program & first of its kind in the world. The main objective is to motivate and equip teachers to encourage and foster critical thinking in students. HRD ministry will spread awareness among teachers and will enable them to develop their skills on the following aspects:-
- Learning Outcomes
- Competency-Based learning and Testing
- Learner-centered Pedagogy
- School Safety and Security
- Personal-social qualities
- Inclusive Education
- ICT in teaching-learning including Artificial Intelligence
- Health and well-being including yoga
- Initiatives in School Education including library, eco-club, youth club, kitchen garden
- School Leadership qualities
- Environmental Concerns
- Pre-school, Pre-vocational Education and School-Based assessment.
In Indian education system, teachers hold a pivotal position in the society and help building character in students. Through NISHTHA teachers training program, teachers at elementary level will be able to acquire scientific temperament and knowledge of other important educational aspects and transfer it to students.
All the students can be linked to Indian knowledge, culture and science through this training program to enable them to contribute in the nation building.
NISHTHA Teacher Training Schedule
The central govt. will provide training to teachers directly through 33120 Key Resource Persons (KRPs) and State Resource Persons (SRP) identified by the State and UTs. These KRPs and SRPs will in turn be trained by 120 National Resource Persons identified from National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA).
All the states and UTs will get an option to contextualize the training modules and use their own material and resource persons. This would be done keeping in view the core topics and expected outcomes of NISHTHA teachers training program. The important features of NISHTHA are activity based modules including in-built continuous feedback mechanism, online monitoring and support system, training need and impact analysis (Pre and Post training).
NISHTHA Teacher Training Program will enable participants to learn innovative teaching methods, the use of art and technology in the classroom and basic counselling techniques.
