NISHTHA Teachers Training Program 2026 online registration is open for teachers and school heads on the official NISHTHA portal. National Initiative for School Heads' and Teachers' Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) is a flagship teacher training scheme of the Central govt. and the Ministry of Education, run by NCERT through CIET. The programme now runs as NISHTHA 2.0 online Integrated Teacher Training on the DIKSHA platform.

NISHTHA was launched as the world's largest teacher training programme to build capacities of around 42 lakh teachers, principals, BRCs and CRCs at the elementary level. Under NEP 2020, every teacher is expected to complete at least 50 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) every year. NISHTHA courses help teachers meet this requirement through free online training.

NISHTHA Teachers Training Programme 2026

National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement is the largest teacher training programme and first of its kind in the world. The main aim of NISHTHA Teachers Training Program is to motivate and equip teachers to encourage and foster critical thinking in students. The Ministry of Education spreads awareness among teachers and helps them develop their skills. The expected outcomes from NISHTHA are given below.

Through NISHTHA teachers training program, teachers at elementary level can acquire scientific temperament and knowledge of other important educational aspects and transfer it to students. All the students can be linked to Indian knowledge, culture and science through this training program to enable them to contribute in nation building.

NISHTHA Courses and Registration 2026-27

NCERT in collaboration with States and UTs and autonomous bodies under the Ministry of Education has started NISHTHA 2.0 online Integrated Teacher Training programme for different stages of school education. The courses are offered in cycles during the academic year 2026-27. Cycle 1 started on 21 April 2026 and enrollment closes on 31 August 2026, while the course must be completed by 15 September 2026. Cycle 2 runs from 01 October 2026 to 15 March 2027.

The courses are divided into different categories. NISHTHA Category II includes proficiency courses like NISHTHA FLN (30 hours) and NISHTHA ECCE (15 hours) for teachers and school heads up to Grade 5. NISHTHA Category III includes advanced courses like Cyber Hygiene Practices, Environmental Hazards of Electronic Waste, Action Research and Catch the Rain, which are open to all teachers and school heads.

Teachers and school heads can enroll in the NISHTHA courses by following the steps given below.

STEP 1 - Go to the official NISHTHA courses page and check the list of courses under Category II and Category III.

STEP 2 - Choose the course that matches your stage of teaching. NISHTHA FLN and NISHTHA ECCE are for teachers and school heads of foundational and preparatory stages up to Grade 5.

STEP 3 - Visit the DIKSHA portal or install the DIKSHA mobile app from the Google Play Store.

STEP 4 - Register on DIKSHA using your email ID and login to the portal. The NISHTHA registration page on DIKSHA has the sign up form.

STEP 5 - Open the course link or scan the QR code shared by your State or UT and click on the "Join Course" option to enroll.

STEP 6 - Complete the course before the closing date. For Cycle 1 of 2026-27, enrollment closes on 31 August 2026 and the course ends on 15 September 2026.

NISHTHA Teacher Training Schedule

The central government provides training to teachers directly through Key Resource Persons (KRPs) and State Resource Persons (SRP) identified by the States and UTs. These KRPs and SRPs are trained by National Resource Persons identified from NCERT and NIEPA. All the states and UTs get an option to contextualize the training modules and use their own material and resource persons.

The important features of NISHTHA Teachers Training Program are activity based modules including in-built continuous feedback mechanism, online monitoring and support system, training need and impact analysis (pre and post training). NISHTHA Teachers Training Program helps participants learn new teaching methods, the use of art and technology in the classroom and basic counselling techniques.
