Need for Assam Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana
PM Narendra Modi's constant focus on the idea of Antyodaya, meaning the rise of the last person, as put forward by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, was the reason behind the launch of this scheme. Because of certain limits, a good number of families from the economically weaker sections were left out of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which also offers cashless treatment benefits of up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year.

Improvement of Health Sector in Assam
Referring to Ayushman Asom - Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana as a reflection of the "double-engine government", the Chief Minister said that the current governments at the Centre and in the State have been working hard for the socio-economic uplift of the weaker sections of society. The launch of Ayushman Asom, along with earlier schemes such as Mission Basundhara and Mission Bhumiputra, shows that very commitment.
The Chief Minister also said that improving the healthcare sector has been one of the top priorities of the current State government. How to Apply for Ayushman Asom Scheme
Most eligible families covered under the National Food Security Act are enrolled automatically, so they only need to verify their details and get their card. The e-KYC campaign for Ayushman Asom is running across all districts of Assam. Government frontline workers like ASHA workers, MPWs, Bima Sakhis and Digipay Sakhis are authorised to carry out house-to-house and camp mode e-KYC in the districts.
STEP 1 - Visit the official Ayushman Card website at beneficiary.nha.gov.in.
STEP 2 - On the homepage, enter your mobile number and captcha code, then click on "login" and verify with the OTP.
STEP 3 - Search using your state, district, Aadhaar number, PMJAY ID or Family ID. If your name appears, click on "Action" to start.
STEP 4 - Complete e-KYC using Aadhaar verification and upload your photo.
STEP 5 - Fill in all the required details like mobile number, address and PIN code, then review and submit. After approval, you can download your card.
FAQ's
Does the scheme cover routine doctor visits or pharmacy medicines?
No. Ayushman Asom is strictly an inpatient hospitalisation scheme. It covers surgeries, ICU care and treatments that need hospital admission. It does not cover normal OPD doctor visits or routine medicine purchases for small illnesses.
Can the Ayushman Asom card be used outside Assam?
Yes. The scheme has full national portability across India. If you need treatment while travelling or working in another state, you can show your Assam-generated card at any PMJAY-empanelled hospital in the country for cashless treatment.
What if the printed card is lost?
If the physical card is lost, the health cover stays intact on the central database. Log back into the official beneficiary portal using your mobile OTP and download a fresh copy of the card whenever needed.
