Start-Up India Scheme for Women Entrepreneurs (Update on 14 March 2017)
**** Language of Writing is as of Update Date **** To uplift the participation of women in entrepreneurship, the central government is planning to launch a new scheme. The government is working on “Start Up India” initiative which will give women entrepreneurs a chance to make it big. The government is focusing on Startup India Plans for women in the upcoming financial year. For providing women an opportunity and to make them independent entrepreneurs, the government has tied up with few US technology giants with the funding support of Rs 100 crore for the initiative.
Start Up India Scheme for Women
NITI Aayog has finalized the scheme to promote the participation of women in workforce. The scheme would be unveiled on 1 April 2017 with the initial funding of Rs. 100 crore. The scheme will help and encourage women to become entrepreneurs in the field of technology with the coordinated efforts by the government and NASSCOM. Initially, the Start Up India scheme for women would be launched in 10 cities to make it result oriented. The scheme will address the concern with government funding and venture capital funding to nurture the business ideas brought by women.
The government has consulted to NASSCOM and discussed with the US based technology giants, including Facebook and Google to give a robust backing to the Start Up scheme for the women. The programme will work like platform for women to achieve their dream of becoming an employer. NITI Aayog is working on the 15-years Vision Document draft for the scheme with key reforms which would enable women participation in various sectors.
The government is collecting the stories of successful women entrepreneurs for providing the courage to the participants. The scheme will be a force multiplier to achieve the Goal 5 of the SDG (Sustainable Development Goal), besides spurring inclusive growth in the country.
Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swaniyojan Yojana – The Rural Avatar of Startup India (Update on 28 March 2016)
Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swaniyojan Yojana is a new initiative being designed by the Rural Development Ministry of India. The action plan of Swaniyojan Yojana is being finalized and it will be launched soon by the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.
Objective of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swaniyojan Yojana
The main objective of Swaniyojan Yojana is to provide incentives such as financial assistance to the rural poor looking for self-employment options.
The scheme will be launched on the lines of Start-Up India initiative which was launched in January 2016 to help grow the start-up ecosystem in India. The scheme will be integrated with MUDRA Bank Loan Yojana, innovative credit linkages and self-help groups. Swaniyojan Yojana will be funded by the existing National Rural Livelihood Mission of the rural development ministry.
The scheme will provide the basic skill set required for self employment in various fields. To do so, the government would provide credit linkages, incubation centers wherever needed. The skill sets would be related to driving, plumbing, agriculture, dairy farming, grafting and horticulture among others.
The rural development ministry is also in talks with some other government departments such as textile, animal husbandry, and food processing to help rural poor setup their own business in these fields. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swaniyojan Yojana will help generating livelihood through self-employment. The livelihood programme will provide training for activities ranging from beauty courses and masonry to horticulture and agriculture.
