Pm Awas Yojana Gramin

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) is a major rural housing scheme launched by the Government of India with the goal of providing "Housing for All" in rural areas. The scheme was approved by the Union Cabinet on 23 March 2015 and implemented from 1 April 2016 as a restructured version of the Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY). Since its inception, PMAY-G has aimed to provide pucca (permanent) houses to homeless and those living in kutcha or dilapidated houses in rural India.

As of March 2026, the scheme continues to be a cornerstone of rural development. The Union Cabinet has approved the extension of PMAY-G from 2024-25 to 2028-29, with a target to construct 2 crore additional rural homes. As of August 2025, 2.82 crore houses have been completed, including support for 2,68,480 landless families.
