Tripura government is going to start Solar Study Lamp (SSL) Scheme 2024 for students. In this Tripura Solar Study Lamp Scheme, the state govt. will provide 6,00,000 environment-friendly solar study lamps to students belonging to poor families. Each student can get these Saur Urja Lamps at token amount of just Rs. 10. This scheme will run in accordance with SSL Scheme of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
In the first phase of Tripura Solar Study Lamp Scheme, 3 lakh solar study lamps would be distributed while remaining 3,00,000 would be given in the second phase. The 80% of the fund for the Tripura Solar Lamp Yojana would be borne by the central government and remaining by the state government.
Tripura Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma initiated the supply of SSL at a function at Bishramganj in western Tripura held last year on 11 March 2020. Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) is the State Nodal Agency for implementing Solar Lamp Scheme.
Tripura Solar Study Lamp (SSL) Scheme 2024
In the Tripura Solar Study Lamp Scheme, govt. will take token amount of Rs. 10 from beneficiary student. In the 1st phase, the state govt. will provide the SSL to 3 lakh poor students and in the second phase govt. would supply additional 3 lakh solar study lamps. The state govt. had already approached the MNRE to sanction more 3 lakh SSL for the northeastern state. This is because some tribal and remote villages grid supply electricity not ensured for 24X7.
Objective of Solar Study Lamp Scheme
Solar study lamps are an application of solar energy and provides an ideal solution for students to have access to lighting in the evening hours for their studies. Solar lamps provide a viable solution to households who are traditionally dependent on kerosene lamps as their primary source of lighting. Solar Lamps are beneficial in the way considering their per unit cost of lighting, high efficiency for brightness and range of light they provide.
Besides education, the Solar Study Lamp Scheme’s other objective is to economically empower women and, most importantly, curb kerosene dependency and stop pollution indoors.
How does Solar Study Lamp Works
The solar study lamp consists of a photovoltaic module which converts sunlight into electricity. With solar access from India’s 300 days of sunshine as their only input, solar study lamps offer an attractive and scalable solution to Tripura’s underserved communities. This Tripura Solar Study Lamp Scheme will benefit school students for their intense study and ensuring students have access to lighting in the evening hours for their studies during this monsoon.
Deputy CM of Tripura had distributed a total of 519 solar study lamps at the inaugural event of SSL Scheme. The present Tripura government is on the move to provide best possible education to the students.
