The objective of the PMASBY scheme is to fill critical gaps in health infrastructure, surveillance, and health research in both urban and rural areas so communities are equipped in managing pandemics or other public health crises.

The new PM Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana would be helpful in the following areas:-

Health Infrastructure Development in PM Aatm Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana
Finance Minister has emphasized the importance of the healthcare infrastructure development in the post-Covid world. For this purpose, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned that the investment in health infrastructure has been substantially increased. The areas of preventive health, curative health and well-being would be strengthened over the years through PM Aatm Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana.
The central government is going to provide Rs. 35,000 crore for the Covid-19 vaccination program in 2021-22. The Union govt. of India is committed to providing more funds if needed. Today India has two vaccines available and has begun safeguarding not only her own citizens against Covid-19 but also those of 100 or more countries. It has added comfort to know that two more vaccines are also expected soon.
Pillars of Union Budget 2021-2022
Union Budget 2021-22 proposals rest on six pillars which are as follows:-
- Health and Well-Being
- Physical and Financial capital and infrastructure
- Inclusive Development for Aspirational India
- Reinvigorating Human Capital
- Innovation
- Research & Development
Finance Minister mentioned that the govt stretched its resources for the benefit of the poorest of the poor. The PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, the three Aatma Nirbhar Bharat packages and subsequent announcements were like five mini-budgets in themselves. India now has one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates of 112 per million population and one of the lowest active cases of about 130 per million.
It has been only 3 times has the Budget followed a contraction in the economy. This time unlike before, the situation is due to a global Coronavirus pandemic. Budget 2021 provides every opportunity for economy to capture pace and grow sustainably.
