West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Yojana 2024 apply online process for farmers starts at the official website matirkatha.net or krishakbandhu.net. Under WB Krishak Bandu Scheme, there are 2 components – Assured Income and Death Benefit. Farmers can download WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme List PDF to avail assured income scheme and death benefits.

Under this WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2024, govt. will provide Rs. 10,000 per acre (earlier Rs. 5,000) per annum to farmers including share croppers in 2 equal installments. The state govt. will also provide Rs. 2 lakh compensation on death of farmers. 1st installment under Krishak Bandhu Scheme is to be paid in the month of June for Kharif Crops and 2nd installment is to be given in the month of November.

Krishak Bandhu (Natun) in West Bengal Budget 2022-23

The scheme “Krishak Bandhu” was revamped and launched as “Krishak Bandhu (Natun)” thereby doubling the financial assistance to the farmers. Under the new scheme, every enrolled farmer gets financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 per annum for one acre or more of cultivable land. Farmers having less than one acre of land are eligible for assistance, on pro rata basis, subject to a minimum of Rs. 4,000 per annum per farmer. Assistance has been disbursed to 77.95 lakh number of beneficiaries in 2021-22 out of which Rs. 1,818.99 crore in Kharif and Rs. 2,216.10 crore in Rabi season have been disbursed as assistance to farmers under the scheme.

Under “Krishak Bandhu (Death Benefit)” scheme assistance has been given @ Rs. 2 lakh to the family members of 38,533 deceased farmers out of which 17,855 assistance have been given during 2021-22.

What is WB Krishak Bandhu Natun Scheme

CM Mamata Banerjee on 17 June 2021 announced that govt. of West Bengal is relaunching the Krishak Bandhu Scheme by doubling the annual financial support for all farmers & share-croppers. Farmers will now receive an increased financial support from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 for one acre or more of cultivable land. Additionally, those having less than one acre of cultivable land will now receive a minimum of Rs. 4,000 per annum, on a pro-rata basis. CM assured everyone that govt. of West Bengal is working round the clock to deliver all the promises of our 10 Ongikars.

About Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2.0

Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2.0 was a part of Trinamool Congress’s poll manifesto and would benefit over 62 lakh farmers in the state. On 17 June 2021, 9.78 lakh farmers were handed over Rs. 290 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer. The state govt. has already provided death benefits to Rs. 28,000 farmers and their families would receive Rs. 2 lakh if they died before 60 years of age.

Under the new plan, farmers with landholding of 1 acre or more would be entitled to receive Rs 10,000 per annum instead of the previous assistance of Rs. 5,000 annually. Even the assistance for those holding land below one acre or less and for marginal farmers has been doubled from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 4,000 per year.

Krishak Bandhu 2.0 Better than PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

Thus Krishak Bandhu Scheme will give farmers a better benefit than PM Kisan, a central government scheme in which farmers get a funding of Rs 6,000 annually, in three equal instalments. However, not all farmers are included in PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Now all the farmers and share croppers would be included in Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2.0 with an increased assistance of Rs. 10,000 for 1 acre and more cultivable land while Rs. 4000 for less than 1 acre of cultivable land. The Bengal government had rolled out the Krishak Bandhu scheme in 2018 and around Rs. 1,500 crore has been disbursed to farmers till February 2021.

Also, there is a death benefit scheme under which a farmer’s family gets a sum of Rs 2 lakh if the farmer dies within 60 years of age. On 14 May, CM Mamata Banerjee had written an open letter to farmers in which she criticised the Centre for its dilly-dallying on “PM Kisan” at a time when it released the first instalment of funds of the scheme to 7 lakh farmers of Bengal. The CM had stated the decision to extend benefits of the scheme to eligible farmers in Bengal was a result of her government’s constant fight.

Krishak Bandhu Digital Smart Card

Govt. of West Bengal, DOA has introduced an unique Assured financial Assistance to all Farmers and farm household families of West Bengal under a single benefit scheme namely Krishak Bandhu. It’s a single digitised card based identity of all farmers of West Bengal. Direct benefit includes:-

1. Farmers with one or more acre landholding entitled for 5000/- per annum (Rabi & Kharif Season) assistance with minimum 2000/- per annum assistance pro rata basis.
2. Under Death Benefit Scheme farm family will be facelifted one time lump sum 2 lakh. Farmer’s personalized authenticated DOA specified database captured digitally, stored in Krishak Bandhu cloud, analysed and digitally verified with L&LR database synchronization by DOA officers.

This system verified authenticated data shared with State & District Co-Operative Banks by DOA for direct benefit disbursement. Personalized Krishak Bandhu Digital Smart Card will be given to farmers to authenticate beneficiaries for all further govt. assistance in future.

WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2024 – Assured Income & Death Benefit

There are 2 components under West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Scheme which have been described below:-

All the farmers whose age is in between 18 to 60 years can avail new insurance policy benefits. The death benefit scheme is effective from 1st January 2019.

The personalized authenticated DOA specified database of the farmers is captured digitally and is stored in Krishak Bandhu cloud. This data is analysed and digitally verified with L&LR database synchronization by DOA officers.

This system verified authenticated data will be shared with State & District Co-Operative Banks by DOA for direct benefit disbursement. Moreover, the state govt. will also give personalised Krishak Bandhu Digital Smart Card to farmers to authenticate beneficiaries for all further govt assistance in future.
