Karnataka Govt. has launched Mathrushree Scheme 2024 to provide financial assistance to pregnant and lactating mothers. Under this Mathrupoorna Yojane, the state govt. will provide a financial assistance of Rs. 6000 through DBT to the expecting women. This Maternity Benefit Scheme aims to provide pregnancy aid to mother of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. This amount will be given to the pregnant women for 3 months before delivery and 3 months after delivery at Rs. 1,000 p.m.

Govt. is already implementing Mathrushree Scheme in phased manner which firstly started on 1 November 2018. The state govt. will increase the monthly amount from Rs. 1,000 in the upcoming 5 years in phases. This scheme is applicable for first 2 deliveries. The state govt. will transfer this amount directly into the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of the eligible expecting mothers.

Karnataka Mathrushree Scheme 2024 – Rs. 6000 Mathrupoorna Yojane

The important features and highlights of this Mathrushree Scheme 2024 are as follows:-

  • The state govt. will provide Rs. 6,000 to all the pregnant mother from BPL Families.
  • The Mathrushree Scheme amount would be given in 6 installments at Rs. 6,000 p.m.
  • Govt. is implementing Mathrupoorna Yojane from 1 November 2018.
  • Karnataka Mathrushree Yojana will remain applicable only to the first two babies. Mothers having their 3rd baby will not be eligible for this scheme.
  • Govt. will transfer the pregnancy aid amount directly through DBT.

All the pregnant mothers from poor families will be benefited from this scheme and this amount will assist them while their delivery.

Mathru Purna Scheme Benefits for Pregnant & Lactating Women

The state government of Karnataka is implementing “Mathru Purna Scheme” or “Matru Poorna Scheme” for pregnant and lactating poor women across the state. The aim of the Mathrupoorna Yojane is to provide at least one nutritious meal every day to pregnant women particularly those living in rural areas of the state.

The guideline and framework of Mathrushree Scheme has been operated by the department of women and child welfare, government of Karnataka. This scheme includes rice, dal or sambar, green vegetables, pulses, egg and groundnut-jaggery chikki to meet the nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating women in rural areas.

In addition, this scheme is providing two kinds of sprouts for those pregnant women who don’t eat eggs. The responsibility to implement this scheme is of all the anganwadis working among rural women across the State.

Matru Poorna Scheme Objectives

The objective of Matru Poorna scheme is to improve maternal health that have a direct impact on the women and child’s nutrition. Under the scheme, the estimated cost of each meal could be around Rs. 21 per meal. The meal to pregnant women would be provided for 15 months that means it starts from the time of pregnancy to up to six months after delivery. This scheme will help in curb child malnutrition across the state.

The state government had even launched micro nutrients for pregnant and lactating women who are living in backward taluks under Mathru Pushtivardhini Scheme, under National Health Mission (NHM). In the recent budget, Karnataka government had made an announcement to extend the scheme to all 30 districts in the state and made a provision in budget and allocated funds for effective implementation of Mathrushree scheme.

The workers of anganwadis can change the diet in case the stipulated items aren’t easily available in the region and the food preference of beneficiary’s will be taken into consideration at time of providing meals. The implementation process of matru poorna scheme has been started at all anganwadis centers across the State. The state government is providing all requirement / grant to procure utensils and gas cylinder for cooking food at anganwadis.

  1. its great to have this schemes to all the bpl card holders and it should also help the middle class people who are not in the situation to provide medical support for themselves and others of their family members and the lot of bpl cards have been reached to the people who are capable to run their families and help others. but still the poor peoples doesn’t have bpl cards for their medical purpose or for their livelihood


  3. Hi Please help us ,in Shimogga Dist,Sorab Tq, Toravanda village Anganawadi workers are cheating in providing the monthly Rations to pregnant women’s, they will not providing Ration as per govt commodity Anganwadi workers not giving proper ration. And they giving expired peanut chikki’s.
