What is Chhattisgarh Poultry Farming Promotion Scheme
Chhattisgarh Poultry Farming Promotion Scheme was started to encourage poultry farming in the state. The Animal Husbandry Department launched this new scheme after the announcement made by former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on 15 August 2023. To run the scheme, ₹1 crore was approved in advance from the contingency fund.
Under the scheme, the state government gives a fixed capital investment subsidy for 5 years to entrepreneurs who set up a poultry unit with their own money or a bank loan. According to the Animal Husbandry Department, the scheme offers 25% to 40% capital investment subsidy for setting up poultry units in developed and developing blocks, to create new jobs and self-employment options in the state.
Subsidy under Chhattisgarh Poultry Farming Promotion Scheme
The state government gives the following subsidy for setting up broiler, desi and colored poultry units:
- In A category areas, general category eligible people get 25% subsidy on fixed capital investment.
- In A category areas, SC, ST and EWS eligible people get 30% subsidy on fixed capital investment.
- In B category areas, general category eligible people get 35% subsidy on fixed capital investment.
- In B category areas, SC, ST and EWS eligible people get 40% subsidy on fixed capital investment.
Similarly, for layer and parent poultry units, general category eligible people in A category areas get 25% subsidy, while SC, ST and EWS eligible people get 30% subsidy on fixed capital investment. In B category areas, general eligible people get 35% and SC, ST and EWS eligible people get 40% subsidy on fixed capital investment.
As per NABARD, the fixed capital cost of one unit of broiler, desi or colored poultry is ₹2.86 lakh, and for layer or parent poultry it is ₹3.70 lakh. Each unit has 1,000 birds. The maximum fixed capital investment subsidy for setting up a 10,000 bird unit ranges from ₹7.20 lakh to ₹14.80 lakh, depending on the area and the applicant's category.
The subsidy is paid in 5 installments after the unit becomes operational and passes physical verification.
