Annapurna Yojana: Bengal orders fresh check, ineligible names to be removed

West Bengal's Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Department has told every District Magistrate and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Commissioner to re-check all women now getting Annapurna Yojana money. Officers have to finish the check this week, with extra focus on women who were paid in October.

Government employees, income tax payers and dead beneficiaries found during the check will be removed from the scheme for good. District officers have to mark these names on the portal, and a fresh Annapurna Yojana beneficiary list with only eligible women is to follow.

About 1.62 crore women got ₹3,000 in the Puja month. Women can see where their application stands on the Annapurna Yojana verification page.
