Short Update
Swamitva Yojana registries stalled in Madhya Pradesh due to staff objections

Registries under Swamitva Yojana are suspended in all 55 districts of Madhya Pradesh as of 23 September 2026. Patwari and Tehsildar associations refused to handle these registries, as they fear future legal trouble in property disputes.
Demands of staff
Patwaris and tehsildars asked the government to use the registry department for this work rather than making them act as registry officers. Staff representatives said the government gave only verbal promises of legal protection, with no written order given so far.
Government response
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met with revenue department officials on 23 September 2026 to fix the standoff. He asked the principal secretary of the revenue department to settle the staff's concerns so the scheme can continue.
