Bhopal Municipal Corporation has approved 712 houses for EWS families under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at Kasturba Nagar and Nayapura. Applications for these houses will be accepted from October 22 to November 6.
Of the total, 256 houses are planned in Nayapura along Karond Bypass Road and 456 in Kasturba Nagar near Chetak Bridge. These houses are for non-slum EWS families. Land allotment is still pending and the corporation has sent the file to the nazul department. The civic body will seek environmental clearance and RERA approval after the land is allotted, and the sale will move ahead only after these approvals.
Additional municipal commissioner Tanmay V Sharma said land allotment for the Kasturba Nagar project is still pending. Land allotment is not required to invite possible homebuyers to apply, he said.
A separate project in Rajendra Nagar with 768 houses is stuck. It has 448 EWS and 320 LIG units and is estimated to cost Rs 119.85 crore. SRS Infra Project Pvt Ltd was given the tender as the lowest bidder. The Town and Country Planning department has refused approval twice over a drain shown in the project layout.
