Nal Jal Yojana: Sendhwa MLA sets eight-day deadline for household water in Jhirijamli

Madhya Pradesh MLA from Sendhwa, Montu Solanki, has told Public Health Engineering (PHE) officials to give every household in Jhirijamli village a tap water supply within eight days. His inspection found that ₹2.07 crore was approved for a Nal Jal Yojana project in the village, yet no home had received water.

Villagers, including women, told him they still walk long distances for drinking water. They said a borewell was built without a motor pump, and a pipeline lay above ground at several places. Scheme rules require it to be buried about three feet deep. They also raised a ₹12 lakh electricity bill issued to the gram panchayat.

Madhya Pradesh carries out its rural tap water work as part of Jal Jeevan Mission, the central scheme for household tap connections. Solanki questioned the department's reply in the Assembly that water supply had started in 53 of 70 villages under the scheme. An official asked for eight days to finish the work. Solanki directed the department to check the pipeline quality and the electricity billing, and warned against any gap between official claims and what villagers see on the ground.
