Transgender ID Card Application Form 2024 is now available at official website transgender.dosje.gov.in. People can now apply online for gender certificate at the newly launched National Portal for Transgender Persons. All those interested transgenders who want to get their personal Identity Card can now fill registration form. Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of central govt. has started this portal to help transgender community members in applying for a certificate and an I-card online.
Transgender ID Card Application Form 2024
Transgender applicants can now get their Identity Cards (I Card) without having any physical interface and without having to visit any office. Through the portal, candidates can fill Transgender ID Card Application Form and can even monitor status of their application that ensures transparency in process. How to Apply Online for Transgender Certificate & Identity Card
Below is the complete process to fill Transgender ID Card online application form 2024:-
STEP 1: Firstly visit the official National Portal for Transgender Persons at transgender.dosje.gov.in
STEP 2: At the homepage, click at the “Registration” link or directly click https://transgender.dosje.gov.in/Applicant/Registration/Index
STEP 3: The Transgender ID Card online registration form will appear as shown below:-
STEP 4: Afterwards, make login at the homepage of National Portal for Transgender Persons through the link https://transgender.dosje.gov.in/Applicant/Login/Index. The login page will appear as below:-
STEP 5: Applicants can enter their “Username” and “Password” sent on their e-mail ID and click at the Login button.
STEP 6: The dashboard for getting gender certificate will appear as shown below:-
STEP 7: In the new window, select the category as “Transgender Certificate & Identity Card” to open the Transgender ID Card application form 2024 as below:-
STEP 8: Here applicants can fill in their details such as name of state, district, name, parent / guardian name, e-mail ID, mobile number, gender assigned at birth, gender requested, date of birth, educational qualification, source of income, address details.
STEP 9: Applicants will have to even upload any one of the following document – Aadhar Card / PAN Card / Voter ID Card / Date of Birth Certificate / Ration Card / Bank Passbook / Passport / MGNREGA Card / Caste Certificate.

Download Transgender Certificate / ID Card
The issuing authorities are under strict timelines to process the applications and issue certificates and identity cards without any necessary delays. Once the Transgender certificate and ID card are issued, applicants can download them from the portal itself. There is an option of “Download” present at the National Portal for Transgender Persons.
In case of delay or rejection, the applicant has the option to submit grievances through the portal which are forwarded to the person concerned and will be resolved at the earliest. National portal for transgender persons is an end-to-end online process. The members of transgender community can avail the services offered by the portal from anywhere.
Dashboard of National Portal for Transgender Persons
The issuing authorities through the dashboard of National Portal for Transgender Persons provided to them can view the number of applications received. The concerned officials can even view the applications approved and the applications which are pending or put on hold so that they can take the required action from their end.
The National portal for transgenders will help a lot of people from the community to come forward and get Transgender Certificate and identity cards as per their self-perceived identity which is an important provision of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.
Garima Greh – Shelter Home for Transgender Persons
Central govt’s minister Thaawarchand Gehlot also e-inaugurated a “Garima Greh – Shelter Home for Transgender Persons” in Vadodara which will be run in association with Lakshya Trust. The purpose of Shelter Home is to provide shelter to transgender persons with basic amenities like shelter, food, medical care and recreational facilities. Moreover, it will provide support for the capacity-building/skill development of persons in the community to enable them to lead a life of dignity and respect. The scheme of “Shelter Home for Transgender Persons” includes the following things:-
- Shelter facility
- Food
- Clothing
- Recreational facilities
- Skill development opportunities
- Yoga
- Meditation/prayers
- Physical fitness
- Library facilities
- Legal support
- Technical advise for gender transition and surgeries
- Capacity building of trans-friendly organisations
- Employment and skill-building support
It is a one of the major step taken to improve the conditions of transgender persons. Central govt. has identified 10 cities to set up 13 shelter homes and extend the facilities to transgender persons, in association with selected 13 community-based organisations in the country on pilot basis. The cities include Vadodara, New Delhi, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Kolkata, Manipur, Chennai, Raipur, Mumbai, etc. The scheme will rehabilitate a minimum of 25 transgender persons in each shelter home identified by the ministry. It is a pilot project and on its successful completion, similar schemes will be extended to other parts of the country.
