Parliamentary Committee Presents Reports on Rural Development and Land Records

Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, Chairperson of Standing Committee on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, recently presented two reports in Lok Sabha. 40th Report evaluates performance of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna-National Rural Livelihoods Mission, and RSETIs. It asks for better tracking of jobs, more loan support, and specific help for women and at-risk groups through schemes like Lakhpati Didi.

Land record and property updates

41st Report looks at Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme. It suggests states connect registration and revenue offices to allow automatic online updates for land records. Committee members suggest citizens use digital land records for legal and money-related tasks, which removes the need for paper copies. It also suggests sending electronic alerts to owners to help stop fake land deals.
