PM Matsya Sampada Yojana completes six years with 197.75 lakh tonnes fish production
Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana completed six years on 10 September 2026. Fish production in India reached 197.75 lakh tonnes in 2024-25, up from 141.64 lakh tonnes in 2019-20. Fisheries exports grew to Rs 73,890 crore in 2025-26, from Rs 46,663 crore earlier. The scheme created direct and indirect work for 58 lakh people.
Financial status
The scheme has a total budget of Rs 20,750 crore. The government allocated Rs 2,500 crore for 2026-27. By 11 August 2026, Department of Fisheries approved projects worth Rs 21,394.88 crore for the period from 2020-21 to 2025-26, including a Central share of Rs 9,510.89 crore.
