Bihar rooftop solar installations reach 3,068 per month with subsidies up to Rs 98,000

Bihar recorded 3,068 rooftop solar installations in August 2026, up from 768 in January. State plans include installing 1.1 kW solar systems free for 2.5 lakh BPL households by November 30, 2026.

Subsidy and loan details

General domestic consumers get subsidies based on system capacity:

• 1 kW: Rs 40,000 (Rs 30,000 central, Rs 10,000 state)
• 2 kW: Rs 80,000 (Rs 60,000 central, Rs 20,000 state)
• 3 kW: Rs 98,000 (Rs 78,000 central, Rs 20,000 state)

State government gives extra financial help up to Rs 20,000 until March 31, 2027. Collateral-free loans up to Rs 2 lakh are available at 5.75 per cent interest for systems up to 3 kW capacity under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
