Registration for Punjab's Mukhyamantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, also called Maa-Beti Samman Yojana, is now open across the state. Phase 1 started on 15 April 2026 in 9 pilot assembly constituencies, and Phase 2 registration for all remaining 108 constituencies opened from 15 May 2026. Under this scheme, every eligible woman in Punjab aged 18 years and above will get ₹1,000 per month directly in her bank account. Women from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will get ₹1,500 every month, which includes an additional ₹500 over the general category amount. First payments are expected to start from 1 July 2026. Money will be sent through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), which means no middlemen, no delays.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced this scheme on 8 March 2026, International Women's Day, while presenting the Punjab Budget 2026-27 in the state assembly. A budget of ₹9,300 crore has been set aside for this scheme in the 2026-27 financial year, and the government aims to register about 90 lakh women. Around 97% of adult women in Punjab are expected to benefit from it. With over 26,000 registration centres set up across the state and dedicated "Mahila Satkar Sakhis" deployed in every village and ward, the Punjab government has made it very easy for women to register close to their homes.
How to Register for Mukhyamantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana
Registration is being done in two phases. Phase 1 started on 15 April 2026 in 9 pilot constituencies: Adampur, Dirba, Sunam, Moga, Malout, Patiala (Rural), Kotkapura, Batala, and Sri Anandpur Sahib. Phase 2 covering all remaining 108 constituencies in Punjab started from 15 May 2026. Registration is currently done offline through Anganwadi Centres and Sewa Kendras. The government is also working on an online portal, but it is not fully live yet. "Mahila Satkar Sakhis" have been appointed in every village and ward to help women complete their registration at home or nearby. Here is how to go about it:
STEP 1 - Get your documents ready before going for registration. You will need your Aadhaar card (with Punjab address), a bank passbook linked to your Aadhaar, and your Punjab Voter ID card. SC category women should also carry their Caste Certificate to get ₹1,500 instead of ₹1,000. Make sure your Aadhaar is linked to your bank account for DBT to work. You can get this done free at any nearby bank branch in 10-15 minutes.
STEP 2 - Visit your nearest Anganwadi Centre or Sewa Kendra with all your documents. You can also contact your local Mahila Satkar Sakhi, who can help you register from your home or neighbourhood. The registration camps are being held across Punjab at thousands of locations.
STEP 3 - Ask for the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana registration form. Fill in your personal details carefully such as name, age, address, Aadhaar number, and bank account details. SC category women must select the correct category during this step, as selecting the wrong category may result in getting ₹1,000 instead of ₹1,500 per month, and corrections may be difficult later.
STEP 4 - Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents and submit the form to the officer. They will give you a receipt as confirmation. Save this receipt for future tracking of your application status.
Once registered, your application will go for verification by the department. After verification is complete, payments will start directly in your linked bank account from July 2026 onwards. Women who register in Phase 1 may get their first payment earlier, while those registering in Phase 2 from May 15 should expect payments to begin from July 1, 2026.

Eligibility for Mukhyamantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana
The Punjab government has kept the eligibility rules quite simple so that as many women as possible can benefit. Here is who qualifies and who does not:
To be eligible, a woman must be a permanent resident of Punjab and must be 18 years of age or above. She must be a registered voter in Punjab with a valid Punjab Voter ID card issued by the Election Commission of India. Her Aadhaar card must reflect a Punjab address and must be linked to her bank account. Women who are already getting social security pensions such as the Old Age Pension, Widow Pension, or Disability Pension are still eligible to get this scheme's benefit on top of what they already receive. Both married and unmarried women are eligible, as marital status is not a condition under this scheme.
However, certain groups have been left out to make sure the money reaches those who need it most. Women who are current or retired employees of the Punjab government, central government, any other state/UT government, PSUs, boards, corporations, or cooperative institutions will not qualify. Women who paid income tax in the last financial year are also excluded. Current or former MPs or MLAs, serving ministers, and their spouses are not eligible either.
Documents Required
Before registering, keep all your paperwork in order. The official gazette confirms only 3 documents are required. Many websites list 7-10 documents, but those are unofficial lists. The three documents you actually need are:
- Aadhaar Card - This is the main document for identity and address verification. Make sure your Aadhaar reflects a Punjab address and is linked to your bank account. This is required for DBT payments to work.
- Punjab Voter ID Card - A valid Voter ID issued by the Election Commission of India for a Punjab constituency is mandatory. It serves as both identity and Punjab voter registration proof. Women without a Punjab Voter ID should get one first.
- Bank Passbook - The front page showing your account number and IFSC code. Your bank account must be Aadhaar-linked for DBT to work. Most accounts at SBI, PNB, and Punjab & Sind Bank already have DBT enabled.
SC category women must also carry their Caste Certificate to get ₹1,500 per month. Without it, the system will place you in the ₹1,000 general category list automatically.
Benefits of Mukhyamantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana
The main goal of this scheme is to give women in Punjab some financial breathing room every month. With ₹1,000 or ₹1,500 coming directly into their accounts, women can handle small household costs, support their children's education, or manage health expenses without having to ask anyone. The government has positioned this as a step towards women's financial independence.
Beyond the monthly money, the scheme is also expected to push more women to open and actively use bank accounts, which builds their financial identity over time. For SC women, the higher amount of ₹1,500 per month also acknowledges the extra challenges they face. The Punjab Women ₹1000 Scheme has been one of the most talked about announcements in the state's 2026-27 budget, and is seen as one of the biggest welfare moves before the 2027 state elections.
Women who are already receiving benefits under the Old Pension Scheme in Punjab or other social security pensions do not lose out, they remain eligible for this scheme too, which means they will get both their pension and this monthly amount.
About the Scheme
Mukhyamantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana translates to "Chief Minister's Mother-Daughter Felicitation Scheme" in English, and is also referred to as Maa-Beti Samman Yojana. It was a key election promise made by the Aam Aadmi Party during the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, and it has taken the Bhagwant Mann government close to four years to formally bring it to life. AAP leader Manish Sisodia described it as the world's first universal cash transfer scheme for women at this scale.
Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Punjab, is handling the rollout and management of the scheme across all districts. Special "Mahila Satkar Sakhis" have been appointed in every village and ward to assist women in registering at home or nearby. For any help or questions, women can also reach out to their District Social Welfare Officer or visit the nearest Anganwadi Centre.
