Uttar Pradesh government launched a new scheme to give free laptops, smartphones, and tablets to students. This scheme is part of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme, started by UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
More than 1 crore students studying medical, technical, and graduation courses will get these devices. To get this benefit, students must complete their eKyc registration at the Digi Shakti Portal. To complete the Digi Shakti registration, visit the official Digi Shakti Portal at digishakti.up.gov.in. You can check the full process from registration to device distribution in this article below.
Digi Shakti Portal 2024 Registration
Good news for students in Uttar Pradesh! To help make education digital, the government is giving free gadgets like tablets, smartphones, and laptops. There is no option for users to register online for the UP free laptop scheme at the Digi Shakti Portal.
However, students needs to complete the e-Kyc registration, go to digishakti.up.gov.in. Then, click on the e-KYC through Meri Pehchaan Portal. A new tab will open. Fill in the details and do the Aadhar verification. This way, students can easily register from home.
UP Digi Shakti Portal Registration (Student Corner)
Important Point: There is no need to do any registration on Digi Shakti Portal by students, neither any Login ID will be created for the students during the whole process. Only e-KYC is required. Below is the complete process of Digi Shakti Portal.
- Students do not need to complete any separate registration process for the free smartphone or laptop program. This initiative aims to support students in their educational journey by providing essential technology at no cost. All eligible students will automatically receive the necessary devices without any additional steps involved.
- A student login ID is also not required.
- The college or institute will upload the student’s data on the portal for the scheme.
- After data is uploaded and verified, students must complete the e-KYC on digishakti.up.gov.in as per the process given below.
- Students will be informed about the smartphone or laptop distribution via SMS.
Steps for Digi Shakti e-KYC at Meri Pehchaan Portal
To complete the e-KYC at the Digi Shakti Portal, follow these steps:
Visit the official Digi Shakti website at https://digishakti.up.gov.in and click on the “e-KYC through Meri Pehchaan Portal” Link as shown below.

A new page as shown below will open, where you have to search the student details by selecting University, college and enrollment number.
After entering all the details, click on the “Search” button.
After searching your details, if you see “Data is Under Verification” message, then you will have to wait for some time to do e-KYC, you can try the process next day or a few days later.
After your data has been verified, then you will see the verification button as shown in below image.
Click on the button and you will be taken to the new Meri Pehchaan Portal where you have to create a new ID, if you already do not have one. Below is the process for New Users of Meri Pehchaan Portal.
For New ePramaan MeriPehchaan Users
On the e-Pramaan MeriPehchaan website, click on “New user? Sign up for MeriPehchaan” link.
On the registration page, enter a mobile number and verify it (validate any mobile number belonging to the user, even if it is not linked to Aadhaar). Complete the registration form (make sure to enter the given name, date of birth, gender, etc., exactly as they appear on the Aadhaar card) and submit the form.
Enter your Aadhaar number and choose the OTP medium. The OTP will be sent to the Aadhaar-verified mobile number or email, depending on the selected option. After receiving the OTP, verify it and submit the form.
Once KYC is successfully completed, the e-Pramaan MeriPehchaan website will redirect you back to the DigiShakti website.
For Existing MeriPehchaan Users
If you already have an account on MeriPehchaan Portal, then you can follow the same process for e-KYC.

Steps for Digi Shakti Portal Registration 2024

Students can check the status of their enrollment and e-Kyc on the portal, to check the status of your enrollment under the scheme at Digi Shakti Portal follow these steps:
- Go to the official website: https://digishaktiup.in.
- Click on the same “e-KYC through MeriPehchaan Portal” link.
- Select your university, institution / college, enter your enrollment number and click the “Search” Button.
- If you see an option like “Invalid Enrollment Number”, then it means your data has not been yet uploaded by your institution / college.
- If your data has been uploaded, you can see the status of your e-Kyc on on the portal and complete the e-Kyc if it is pending.
Digi Shakti Login Process
There is no option for students to login in the DigiShakti portal, however department login link and process on Digi Shakti are as below.

- On the login screen, select the User Type from CMO/PS IID/IIDC, UPDESCO/Inspection Team/IPRD, Department, District Administration, DISTRICT MAGISTRATE, and University/Board/Society/Council.
- Then enter your UserID, Password, and the Captcha code.
- Click on the Sign In button.
Check the List of Tablet / Mobile Service Centers
In case your tablet or mobile device is not working, you can take it to a designated service center and check the list on the Digishakti portal using below process.
- Visit the Digi Shakti website.
- Click on Tablet/Mobile Service Center.
- A new page will open. Select the device brand company from “Samsung, Acer and Lava”.
- A list of service centers will appear. Select one and go for the device repair.

Check UP Free Laptop, Tablet, and Smartphone List 2024
There is no direct option to check the list of beneficiaries on Digishakti but, to see if your name is on the free laptop scheme beneficiary list, visit https://digishakti.up.gov.in. click on e-Kyc through meri pehchaan portal and then search for your name in the list by selecting your university, college and entering your Enrollment number.
If your name appears below that form, then it means your name is in the list. Students whose names are on the list will get the devices.
