The Indian government is planning to start a new program to help girls aged 14 to 18 get ready for non-traditional jobs. A senior government official announced that the program will begin soon to train these teenage girls for jobs where women are usually underrepresented.

Non-Traditional Jobs Scheme for Girls to be Launched Soon

Anil Malik, the Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, said that the pilot phase of this program will start in the next two to three weeks. Right now, the program is being tested in 27 districts, but it will eventually expand to 218 districts across the country.

This program will offer training to girls aged 14 to 18, close to their homes and schools, while they continue their education. The project is called the “Introduction of Special Project for Empowering Adolescent Girls & Women.”

The pilot program will include training in non-traditional jobs, as well as digital skills, digital marketing, and overall personality development. The goal is to prepare more women to join the workforce.
