Punjab Assembly resolves to protect welfare schemes

Punjab Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on 27 October 2026 to continue public welfare schemes and financial support for eligible people. It says the Punjab government must budget for these schemes every year and deliver the funds on time.

The resolution names Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, Ashirwad Scheme, Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojana and Meri Rasoi Yojana, along with free bus travel for women, social security pensions and free electricity for homes and farm tube-wells. More than 80 lakh women are registered under Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, receiving ₹1,000 a month or ₹1,500 for eligible Scheduled Caste women. Women make over 1 crore free bus trips each month. Ashirwad Scheme gives ₹51,000 for the marriage of eligible daughters.

Punjab households get 300 units of free domestic electricity a month; more than 90% have had no power bills since 2022. Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana covers treatment up to ₹10 lakh per family each year. The 1,244 Aam Aadmi Clinics have served around 2 crore patients.

Social security pensions of ₹1,500 a month support 30 lakh senior citizens, widows, destitute people and people with disabilities. Meri Rasoi Yojana gives free food supplies every quarter to 40 lakh families. Nearly 7 lakh elderly people have completed free spiritual journeys under Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojana.
