Punjab BJP alleges Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojana delays payments to 33-34 lakh women

Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha head Jainder Kaur says Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojana is not giving women in the state the benefits promised. She said the scheme was supposed to start in February 2022. It began only in July 2026. That delay has kept lakhs of women away from about four and a half years of payments.
Jainder Kaur questioned the government's claim that money went into the accounts of 73.99 lakh women in Gobindwal. She pointed to gaps in the reported figures. The first instalment went to over 35 lakh women. The second went to over 38 lakh. Were both instalments really paid to all 73.99 lakh? Many who got the first in July have not yet received the second.
The leader said the government had earlier told women they could submit forms at any time and get back payments from July. But now, showing separate first and second instalments with different beneficiary counts does not match that assurance.
Jainder Kaur compared Punjab with West Bengal. There, eligible women get ₹3,000 per month under the Annapurna Yojana. Payments to 1.30 crore women were deposited in July itself. Punjab has about 1.20 crore women. The government promised 97 per cent coverage. That would mean covering nearly 1.16 crore women. Instead, she said only around 73 lakh have received one instalment each. That leaves 33-34 lakh women without benefits.
