UP State Livestock Mission: state to pay 85% of animal insurance premium
Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved a State Livestock Mission on 27 October 2026. Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh said it is modelled on National Livestock Mission and is UP's first mission of this kind.
Farmers will get a grant to buy improved desi breed cows like Sahiwal, Gir, Haryanvi and Gangatiri. Reports give different per-cow amounts, so the exact figure will be clear only from the government order.
For animal insurance, the state pays 85% of the premium and the livestock owner pays 15%. Goat, sheep and poultry rearing will also get support. Eligibility rules and the way to apply are not out yet.
